At Khed-Lote-Chipalun on the Mumbai-Goa National Highway, there is a danger to the lives of drivers and passengers due to the presence of stray cattle standing on the road. Farmers in Khed taluka have sold their nearby farmlands. The business of selling land has been going on vigorously for the last ten to twelve years. Farmers who sell agricultural land have left cattle free. After selling the agricultural land on the Mumbai-Goa highway to rich people as well as to a private company, the respective owners have put up a wire fence around the farm they bought. Therefore, farmers who have sold their farms have no place to graze their cattle. The loose cattle left by the farmers are coming on the highways. There are more cattle on the road in Parashuram Ghat and Lote area. The amount of paddy cultivation has also decreased in Lote area and farmers leave cattle outside for grazing. They come on the road. These cattle create a hindrance in traffic. Sometimes traffic jams become the cause of accidents.
