The MIDC that is going to be held at Mirya near Ratnagiri city has been protested by the locals along with the Chakarmanyas who have come for Ganeshotsav and the question has been raised by the villagers that why the government is breaking the peace by putting up a board that says tourism and peace at the Mirya-Murugwada bridge on the occasion of World Tourism Day coming soon. Port MIDC at Mirya It is proposed and it has been opposed by all Mirya residents including Sadamira-Jakimirya. Villagers of Group Gram Panchayat Mirya along with Sadamirya passed a resolution of opposition in the Gram Sabha. After that, apart from the villagers from Murugawada to Sadamira, a meeting was held in the square here and they raised slogans that we do not want MIDC. Former MLA Bal Mane also clarified that he does not want MIDC in his village. The question is being raised by the youth here as to what is the reason behind bringing MIDC instead of developing this village in terms of tourism.
