War level asphalting of unconcreted roads on Mumbai-Goa highway.

There are signs that the journey of lakhs of Ganesha devotees who set out from Mumbai-Pune to Konkan for Ganeshotsav will be somewhat easier this year. The unconcreted roads on the Mumbai-Goa highway are being asphalted on a war footing and the authorities claim that the work will be completed in the next two days. In the meantime, if there is heavy rain, there is a fear that the asphalting will be exposed and the roads will turn into potholes again. Ganaraya will arrive next Saturday. And to celebrate the traditional Ganeshotsav in Konkan, thousands of families from Mumbai, Thane are going to leave from Wednesday (4th) night to go to Konkan in different vehicles (on page 12) (from page 1). Concreting of roads in some sections of the Mumbai-Goa highway in Raigad and Ratnagiri districts has not been completed this year either. Protests had started over this for the past few days. Also, this year too, the journey in Konkan was likely to be troublesome. In this background, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde inspected the highway last week. was
