- Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav launched a new train for Konkan through ‘VC’
Mumbai: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on Thursday afternoon flagged off the first train from Mumbai’s western suburbs to Konkan via Vasai via video conferencing from Borivali station to Madgaon.
The inauguration ceremony of the first permanent train from Mumbai’s western suburbs on the Konkan railway line, which has been in demand for the past several years, was held at Borvali railway station on Thursday afternoon. In the presence of Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, Mumbai BJP president Ashish Shelar along with local MLAs from Borivali, Dahisar, Magathne, the train running between Bandra and Margaon was flagged off. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav participated through video conferencing. After he flagged off the train, the inaugural train left for Konkan.
A large number of Mumbai-based Konkanians were present for the launch of this first train from the western suburbs to Konkan. The grand opening ceremony of the train was held amid loud slogans like ‘Jai Shivaji Jai Bhawani, Ganpati Bappa Morya’.
As promised by Piyush Goyal before the Lok Sabha elections, gratitude was expressed to him for starting this train on the Konkan railway line.
