Mumbai Date 28: Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has decided to appoint a technical joint committee comprising civil engineers, experts, IITs and Navy officials to find out the reasons behind the collapse of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s statue at Rajkot in Malvan taluka and to carry out a detailed analysis regarding this unfortunate incident. This committee will determine the responsibility. He also directed the Public Works Department to appoint a committee of the country’s best sculptors, civil engineers, experts, and naval officers to erect a grand and excellent statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj befitting his achievements. Regarding this incident, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had called a meeting of the concerned at Varsha. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Public Works Minister and Guardian Minister Ravindra Chavan, School Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar, Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik, Additional Chief Secretary Home Iqbal Singh Chahal, Additional Chief Secretary Public Works Manisha Mhaiskar, Additional Chief Secretary Urban Development Asim Gupta, Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Brijesh Singh, Director General of Police Rashmi Shukla, Vice Admiral Ajay Kochhar, Rear Admiral Manish Chadha, Architect Ram Sutar, Vinay Wagh, Shashikant Wadke were present. The Chief Minister also directed to appoint a committee of JJ School of Arts, IIT, Civil Engineers, renowned sculptors of Maharashtra, as well as technical officers of the Navy to design and erect the statue of Chhatrapati in a new grand format. The Chief Minister said on this occasion that the incident is unfortunate and the feelings of Shiva devotees are intense. The Navy had erected this statue in Rajkot on the occasion of Navy Day celebrations in a good spirit. Saying that we should be very careful so that such an accident never happens again in the future, the Chief Minister said that the statue of Shiva Raya to be erected should suit his image. Funds will not be allowed to fall short anywhere.
