JEDDAH — Dr. Ayman Ghulam, CEO of the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), chaired a meeting focused on enhancing the level of readiness and coordination with the Ministry of Education to address weather phenomena that could impact regions across Saudi Arabia.
During the meeting, the team reviewed plans to provide the Ministry of Education with round-the-clock weather updates, ensuring the safety of students at all educational stages. Dr. Ghulam highlighted the importance of delivering weather information quickly and accurately to support effective responses.
He also presented the center’s preparations and awareness programs aimed at students and educational staff, emphasizing the significance of understanding meteorology, weather elements, and potential atmospheric phenomena. These initiatives include educational materials designed to improve students’ knowledge of atmospheric conditions and safe practices during adverse weather.
The meeting was attended by directors from the center’s branches across various regions of the Kingdom, along with representatives from the media and awareness departments, crisis and disaster management, and several weather and climate specialists. The participants discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the center and the Ministry of Education to ensure schools are well-prepared to handle any weather-related challenges, with the necessary support and information provided to teachers and administrators.
Dr. Ghulam concluded the meeting by reaffirming the National Center of Meteorology’s commitment to offering the best services and information to safeguard students during the new academic year. He called for ongoing coordination with relevant authorities to achieve shared objectives.
