97 cancer patients in 10 months in Ratnagiri district

Ratnagiri : Dist. W. National Cancer Awareness Day was celebrated in the district on Thursday by the Health Department. The statistics of cancer patients from January 2024 in Ratnagiri district is 97, out of which 13 patients have undergone successful surgery.

National Cancer Awareness Day Cancer Awareness Day is celebrated in India on 7th November every year on the birth anniversary of the famous Nobel laureate Madame Curie who made significant contributions in the ongoing fight against cancer. On this day people are made aware about cancer. Cancer treatment is promoted. District Health Officer Dr. Under the guidance of Anirudh Athalye, National Cancer Awareness Day was celebrated on 7th November through all health institutions in the district. Accordingly Primary Health Center Abaloli, Cancer awareness was created at Guhagar. Medical Officer Dr. Rituja Gangawane gave in-depth information about cancer and guided about cancer screening and care to be taken to prevent it.

On this occasion, Health Assistant Bhatkar, Jamble, Health Sevak Khillare, Health Service Deokar and the citizens of the village were present.

Blood cancer, oral cancer, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, colon cancer, pharynx cancer, ovarian cancer, brain cancer are currently seen to be on the rise. This cancer is increasing due to tobacco or gutkha use, cigarettes and drinks, prolonged exposure to radiation, genetic defects, physical inactivity, malnutrition, obesity. District Health Officer Dr. Anirudh Athalye said.
