5 crore 55 lakh was seized by the Election Department’s static survey team from a vehicle at Shilphata in Kalyan Rural Assembly Constituency on Saturday. As this amount is more than 10 lakhs, this amount has been handed over to the Income Tax Department for further investigation, Vishwas Gujar, the election decision officer of Kalyan Rural Assembly Division told the media.
A team of Stationary Survey Department is working in Shilphata area. The team was investigating suspicious vehicles on Saturday morning. At that time, while checking a vehicle, they found a large amount of money in that vehicle. After calculating this amount, this amount was found to be five crore 55 lakhs. The team took the vehicle aside. Asked the person in the vehicle if they had any official documents with them regarding this amount.
The persons in the vehicle could not give any information to the election team about this amount. So the team reported this information to Election Returning Officer Vishwas Gujar. As this amount was suspicious, this information was reported to the officials of Income Tax Department. The income tax authorities took custody of this amount for further investigation by making panchnama of this amount before the Panchayat. As the final phase of the election has started, the election teams have started a vigorous vehicle checking campaign in anticipation of the possibility of large turnover.
