Konkan Railways has made a profit of Rs 301 crore during the financial year 2023-24 by constructing new projects worth over Rs 1200 crore through competitive tenders. It has been reported that during the period of 7 months from January to July, Konkan Railway has succeeded in generating 3.18 lakh units of electricity from solar energy and saving Rs. 38.56 lakh in energy bills. On the occasion of Independence Day, Konkan Railway has announced its performance account. Konkan Railway ran 15,399 trains during the 7 month period from January to July. It includes 11,444 passenger trains and 3,955 goods trains including 181 summer special trains. A contribution of Rs 1,486 crore has been approved for the construction of Old Goa and Pedne tunnels. Work on Thokur in Karnataka and cargo shed has also been completed.
