Ratnagiri: For the assembly elections, the Election Commission had requisitioned 8,987 ST trains across the state to deliver voting machines to polling stations and to carry election materials back to counting stations after polling. Accordingly, the State Transport Corporation has made arrangements to provide 260 STs for the district as well.
These cars will be given on casual contract on November 19 and 20. During this period, important work of transporting election materials and voting machines will be done by this bus. Apart from this, 245 additional buses will also be made available for the administration. ST currently has a total of 13,367 buses of its own. Out of them, 9,232 buses will be deployed for election work from various 31 divisions of the state. It will be managed in the entire state including Mumbai.
Regular traffic is not affected
According to the administration bus, the demand is for a fixed period. Therefore, this incidental agreement will not affect regular passenger traffic. Therefore, the ST administration has taken care that the daily commuters will not have to face any problem.
