150 kilometers from Mumbai to Goa in just six hours. State Road Development Board has announced the outline of high speed greenfield highway of Konkan. The length of this highway is 376 km and the total cost will be 68,720 crores. Also, this highway will be six-lane, and there will be two service roads. There will be a total of 41 tunnels, 51 big bridges and 68 overpasses on this highway. All the three highways will be connected to each other. The Mumbai-Goa highway has been stalled for the last 17 years while the oceanic highway has been stalled for 30 years. A new tender has been floated for Agardanda Bankot, Revus and Dabhol Jaigad bridges on the maritime highway. While the status of these two highways is a mere rumor, now the government has lured Konkan residents with another highway. This highway will be the fastest and the travel time will be reduced from 12 hours to 6 hours, according to the project report. The distance between Mumbai Goa Highway and Sea Highway is 460 km. But since this new highway is 376 km long, the distance will be reduced by 90 km. So this highway is going to be straighter like Konkan Railway. The first stage is from Atal Setu to Alibaug-Shahbaz. From there onwards, this highway will go to Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts as the route 6 of the highway and this highway will be 100 meters wide. This highway will travel through Konkan talukas. This highway passes between two highways namely Mumbai-Goa Highway and Sagari Mahaharg. Interchanges can be arranged here. Alibag – Shahabad Roha Ghosale, Mangaon – Madhegaon, Mandangad – Kelwat, Dapoli – Vakvali, Guhagar city, Ratnagiri – Ganpatipule, Rajapur – Bhalvali, Devgad city, Malvan city, Kudal Chipi, Sawantwadi city, Vengurle, Banda will be routed by this highway. . It includes 41 tunnels, 21 big bridges, 50 small bridges. 3792 hectares of land will be acquired for this highway. 146 hectares of this is forest land. The proposal has been submitted for the approval of the Central Environment Department.
